SPOTLIGHT:
To reduce bear-human interactions and reduce the fruit load from urban apple trees, Durango Apple Days was created in cooperation with the City of Durango, La Plata County, and CSU Extension. 4,000 to 6,000 pounds of fruit is gleaned from apple trees in the county and then pressed into about 250 gallons of juice during the festival attended by almost 1,500 visitors.
