Evaluation Associate, Community Engagement

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Evaluation Associate (EA), Community Engagement, will support the evaluation of the Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids Initiative (HFDK). The work will involve the evaluation of 50+ programs, locally funded across Denver, to understand their successes and challenges, to improve healthy food access and nutrition education for children, youth, and their families living in Denver.  The EA will provide day-to-day coordination and assistance to support grantees in their data tracking, collection, community engagement approaches, and reporting, and will work with CAI Evaluation Team to analyze data to promote programmatic impact and assess meaningful outcomes for Denver, the initiative, grantees, and the communities they serve.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):

  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of research and evaluation activities
  • Regularly clean data, conduct descriptive data analysis, and maintain project databases
  • Assist in writing reports, developing PowerPoint presentations, and producing data summaries/dashboards
  • Provide evaluation-related training and TA to grantees to build their evaluation capacity and continuous program learning and development
  • Build relationships with grantees, through TA, to design, implement, and report on data that fulfills grantees’ data reporting requirements and meets the needs of the evaluation
  • Serve as liaison with grantees to communicate about CAI’s learning and evaluation capacity building opportunities, reporting requirements, and other meetings and deadlines
  • Support activities to gather community feedback about needs/strengths related to food security efforts and food/nutrition education
  • Perform various administrative duties including coordinating timelines, data entry, schedule coordination, and database and file management.
  • Perform other duties as necessary/assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Undergraduate degree in health/social sciences, public health, or comparable field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of pertinent full-time work preferred.
  • Experience working in evaluation or research in a social sciences setting.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative data analysis software and data collection/management programs (e.g., Excel, MaxQDA, R, STATA, SPSS, REDCap, etc.)
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and adept at managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Creative mindset, ability to think outside boundaries, and ability to present data-centric information in innovative and creative ways.
  • Experience working with community-based members and organizations on program evaluation
  • Ability to travel locally in Denver (approximately 20% of the time)
  • Fluent in Spanish (strongly preferred)

While performing the Evaluation Associate’s responsibilities, the employee is required to talk and hear. This position requires the employee to be on-site at the CAI Denver office. The employee is often required to sit and work at a desk for prolonged periods of time and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $60,000- $65,000. CAI offers a generous benefits package including:
