Healing the Ground Beneath Us: Common Ground Community Film Screening and Panel Discussion is an event designed to raise awareness in El Paso County about the importance of soil health. Through a screening of the powerful documentary Common Ground, participants will learn about the critical role soil plays in agriculture, food security, and environmental sustainability. The event will provide a platform for local farmers, ranchers, and residents to come together and discuss the challenges and opportunities related to soil health in the region. Attendees will hear from experts on the pressing issues facing the land, such as soil erosion, degradation, and the impact of climate change. The film will highlight the connection between healthy soil and the broader ecosystem, including the food we eat and the water we rely on. Following the screening, a panel discussion will delve deeper into these topics, offering valuable
insights and actionable solutions.

Film: Common Ground is a film directed and produced by Josh and Rebecca Tickell w
have spent the last decade of their lives making this film and sparking the comm
ground movement including the 100 million acres movement. Common Ground film
the highly anticipated sequel to the juggernaut success documentary, Kiss the Ground,
which touched over 1 billion people globally and inspired the United States Department
of Agriculture (USDA) to put $20 billion toward soil health. By fusing journalistic expose’
with deeply personal stories from those on the front lines of the food movement,
Common Ground unveils a dark web of money, power, and politics behind our broken
food system. The film reveals how unjust practices forged our current farm system
which farmers of all colors are literally dying to feed us. The film profiles a hopeful
uplifting movement of white, black, and indigenous farmers who are using alternative “regenerative” models of agriculture that could balance the climate, save our health, and
stabilize America’s economy – before it’s too late.
