POSITION: Ranch Hand, Western States Ranches SUPERVISED BY: Grazing and Forage Planning Coordinator START DATE: March 2023
BENEFITS: Salary $36,000 + DOE

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years livestock handling experience • Understanding of, and desire to implement, Holistic Management principles (grazing planning and management; decision-making, etc.) • Current driver’s license
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to regularly lift 50 lbs.
- Able to work long days outdoors in adverse weather conditions (snow, rain, sun, wind,
etc.)
EFFECTIVENESS AREAS
- Grazing and Forage Management
- Participate in the creation and implementation of the Ranch’s grazing plans on multiple properties o Utilize electric fencing to optimize animal and land performance o Feed livestock as needed to achieve production goals o Repair infrastructure as needed • Irrigation o Plan the application of irrigation on multiple properties, in conjunction with grazing management o Implement the irrigation plan daily, maximizing the efficiency of irrigation water • Livestock Management o Maintaining strong herd health by identifying sickness issues and treating animals o Implementing the Ranch’s herd health program (e.g., mineral, supplementation,
vaccinations)
- Participate in livestock working events (e.g., branding, weaning, pregnancy checking, sorting, etc.)
