WHO WE ARE:

Benevolence Orchard & Gardens is a regenerative, permaculture project in Boulder County Colorado. We are homed on a secured, private piece of land. Our efforts steward heritage fruit trees, mushrooms, herbs, perennials, an array of vegetables, a flock of chickens and all wild critters that show up to the party. We host a roadside stand, workshops, offer a small CSA and have hand crafted pantry goods and herbals year around.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Vegetable Garden Manager. Contractor wages commensurate with experience.

 

We have an acre and a half vegetable garden with two high tunnels (in deer fencing) and a small greenhouse looking for continued love. The Master Vegetable Garden Manager will oversee day-to-day operations from seeding, to transplanting, to ventilation and irrigation, harvest, and food handling for availability to the community. We are not certified organic and will not use chemical inputs. No markets necessary but we do have a roadside stand and a handful of CSA members. We love canning and storing pantry goods for winter and create allowed products under the Colorado Cottage Foods Act to share.

Self motivation and initiative a must. Three years experience is a big plus.

You will be asked to work with regulated ditch water systems that fill a pond and are shared with the orchard and other gardens on the property. You will also need to be aware of and keep soils deeply nourished and building through companion planting, amendments, cover crops and mulching.

 

The Vegetable Garden Manager is the on-site supervisor and representative of our project’s vegetables and culinary herbs, working closely with the office team and crew to ensure crop and human success and the promotion of good community relations.

You will be responsible for:

Supervising and managing daily operations to assure a smooth and safe running.

Coordinating with office staff to create a dynamic team experience and interface with the public.

Collecting and reporting data.

Attending weekly meetings and consistent check ins Respond to weather, irrigation, team needs and unexpected random related demands with a level head and positive attitude Basic tractor and fix it skills Access to reliable transportation Available to start immediately
