Food System Environmental Education Service Member – 1 full-time position available:
- Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week on average, major holidays and most weekends off, Position runs late Aug 2021 – July 2022.
- Position Overview: The School Food Project eeCorps member will focus on student-facing programs that seek to increase environmental knowledge and engagement, specifically with issues connected to food system-related Environmental Education programs. Programs
- Primary Activities: This role will partner with educators and students to conduct food waste audits and increase students’ awareness of food waste’s environmental impacts. Additionally, this service member will support food waste reduction through an expanded use of LeanPath food waste tracking systems in cafeterias and production kitchens. This member will be an integral support of increasing awareness of the environmental impacts of our healthy food program including local food procurement, use of organic and clean label products, partnerships with local farmers and increasing student awareness of the environmental benefits of plant-based menu entrees. Depending on member interest, there is the option to also be involved in hands-on garden education for students and staff members as well.
- Compensation: A bimonthly living allowance of $695.66.

School Garden and Greenhouse 4-H STEM AmeriCorps Member – 2 half-time positions available:
- Hours: Half-time (20 hours per week) for a total of 900 hours across the program year (Aug/Sept/Oct 2021- July 2022). (Please contact Mary if you are interested in a full time version of this position which would include health insurance)
- Position Overview: The School Food Project 4-H STEM member will collaborate with partners and educators to teach gardening and cooking since kids love foods they have grown and prepared themselves. This role includes hands-on work in school gardens and greenhouses, growing plants and working with students in youth development programs emphasizing 4-H STEM education.
- Primary Activities: Plan, coordinate, lead, and evaluate educational programs to youth in school garden and outdoor kitchen settings. Help foster garden education by helping to create and maintain learning spaces in school gardens and greenhouses, this includes hands-on garden work and maintenance to prepare for student enrichment time. Incorporate and implement educational enrichment activities, service-learning events, community partnership development to support our mission of connecting kids to the joy of growing, cooking and eating food.
- Compensation: Half-time members earn a living allowance of up to $7,550 for their term of service. The living allowance is distributed approximately every two weeks and is taxable.
